About
JNoted is a small bilingual editorial site with short, sourced notes on Japanese society, products and markets.
JNoted is a small editorial site for writing about Japan briefly and with sources. It covers three things: society, such as population and households; products from Japanese makers; and the markets around Japan-origin products. Every note is published in Japanese and English.
Why
Information about Japan tends to be either overwhelming or hard to read. The statistics are detailed but buried in large tables; maker catalogs are precise but written for people who already know the numbering. These notes try to bridge that gap.
Editorial rules
- Fact and interpretation are kept apart. Statistics and maker figures are marked as fact; what we read into them is marked as our reading.
- No invented numbers. Every figure has a source, with a link to the original wherever possible. Projections are labelled as projections.
- No pretend testing. If we have not used a product, the note says so. No fake reviews, star ratings or sales rankings.
- Fewer, deeper. No search-engine article farm.
- Money does not decide conclusions. See the affiliate disclosure.
Who writes
Notes are researched and written by the JNoted editors from publicly available sources. We do not publish personal names or addresses.
Independence and trademarks
We are not affiliated with, sponsored by or endorsed by any maker or retailer we mention. Product and brand names are trademarks of their owners and are used only to identify products.
Corrections
If you spot an error or something out of date, please use the contact page. Corrections are reflected in each note's updated date.
